Information overload & overthinking

Have you ever noticed how many different factors can impact thinking and sense of control over our lives? It's intriguing to delve into the world of psychology and understand why we feel the way we do, but this often leads to information overload and leaves us unsure of how to apply what we've learned.

That's why I wanted to create a practical technique that could be used on-the-spot, to optimise my mind in any moment. After experimenting with different approaches, I developed a simple yet effective way of thinking called "Check your M.I.N.D."

The acronym represents four key elements to focus on:

  • M – Meaning Reframe: Take a moment to reframe the meaning of a situation. For example is this a problem or an opportunity? It is a setback or a lesson?
  • I – Intention: Consider what you want to achieve in this moment or day. What's important to you? How do you want to show up in the world? Having a clear intention can help you stay focused and motivated.
  • N – Narrative: Be aware of your internal narrative - the way you talk to yourself. Is it aligned with your intention and supportive of your goals? Or are you being self-critical or overly negative? Our subconscious is always listening, so it's essential to cultivate a positive internal dialogue.
  • D – Direct Focus: Finally, direct your focus by asking empowering questions. What can you do to move closer to your goals? What resources do you have available? What steps can you take to overcome any obstacles in your way? By focusing on solutions, you can harness the power of your mind. What we focus on we find.

By taking a few moments to Check your M.I.N.D, you can quickly assess your current state and make any necessary adjustments to optimise your mindset for success.
